Winter comes to Oregon-- or how my 11 days off became 16

We are almost at the end of 2 weeks of snow and ice in Salem Oregon. Unheard of here. On Sunday night about 6 pm I heard a crack and a crash and then the lights went out. Across the street a tree branch had broken and taken out the power line. Today (72 hours later) we finally have electricity thanks to a crew from Idaho that came over to help out with all the outages in the city. Apparently there are also crews from Washington and California here.

Anyway here are some photos of the mess. This is the down limb and power line.

A few comments

Reading over old blogs (yes I really am that bored) I have a few comments to make.

1) The cake pan of Ariel was apparently rare indeed, I bought it for $15 bucks 8 or so years ago, and sold it for $27 on ebay recently.

2) My mom asked about the polar bear at summer camp last year. Mom, that polar bear is very old. Every day it gets given to the cabin who wins the polar bear swim to keep for the day. One bear passed around from cabin to cabin, day after day, week after week, year after year...... (do they ever clean it?)

3) My grandchildren have moved to Montana. They are greatly missed here.

must be time to post something here

I don't have any pictures to add or exciting stories to tell. Just thought it was time to see if any one actually looks at this thing.

I am going to my older brother, Chris' wedding to Jacinta (see her photos in my Thanksgiving post) on June 28. A very quick trip back east. Acording to the current weather they are having, I am going to melt like a popcicle.
